Weed-Free Trails Program, Saguaro National Park

The Weeds-Free Trail Program at Saguaro National Park was organized in February of 2008. The goal of this program is to monitor the trails, mapping and removing exotic plants and fulfilling the goal of “Early Detection, Rapid Response”. In 2013, twelve volunteers monitored 1,150 miles of trails and removed 11 acres of invasive vegetation, contributing approximately 1,039 hours to the volunteer program. Arizona Trail – Saguaro National Park

This project will focus on starting to clear brush and light tread repair on the Quilter Trail near the junction with Camino Loma Alta trail. Be prepared for hiking between 2 and 5 miles in addition to trail work. We will be meeting at the Rincon Vista Visitor Center and carpooling to the work location in park vehicles in order to access the trail more directly. Through the Pima County Adopt-A-Roadway Program, Friends of Saguaro National Park has adopted North Sandario Road from West Rudasill Road to Golden Gate Road. This section of road runs through the Tucson Mountain District (TMD) of Saguaro National Park on the west side of Tucson.
